Revised temporary timetable on limited number of Cork City Services
New schedules will come into effect on routes 202/a, 205, 208 and 220 from 20 October:
Bus Éireann, Ireland’s national bus company, wishes to announce the introduction of temporary revised timetables for a small number of Cork City Services. New schedules will come into effect for the following routes from 20 October:
The changes on these high frequency routes are being implemented to improve punctuality for passengers as well as improving service delivery. The amendments on these routes will also lead to greater reliability across the entire network. Bus Éireann carries out over 295,000 passenger journeys per week in Cork City, under contract with the National Transport Authority (NTA), across 25 routes and 10,693 scheduled services (weekly). Capwell depot is the largest in the network with over 500 people employed.
The revised timetables will be published on September 30th and will be communicated to the public through our usual channels, including buseireann.ie. Following consultation with Trade Unions, these changes will come into effect from 20 October with regular reviews planned. As driver recruitment increases to achieve our full requirement, service frequency will return to current levels on the aforementioned routes as quickly as possible.
Bus Éireann continues to engage with relevant authorities to grow and improve the quality of bus services for Cork City. In addition to continuing its driver recruitment campaign and welcoming applications through careers.buseireann.ie, the company will also undertake a renewed campaign to help deliver increased bus prioritisation measures to further improve reliability for our customers. With just 2% of our service kilometres delivered through bus lanes in Cork City, significantly more measures are needed and the company looks forward to the full implementation of BusConnects Cork which starts in 2025, funded by the National Transport Authority.
